Route Delivery Service type description:
Since Route service is our most value packed and least expensive service type and it can cause some misunderstandings so we hope this explanation will help you get the most out of this inexpensive option. Our routes are designed to efficiently meet your daily deadlines without the need to for expensive rush services if you plan ahead. Route Service doesn't fit every delivery but it is designed to fit 60% of all normal courier deliveries.
Here's how it works. We are defined as a hub and spoke operation, much like FedEx and UPS whereby all routed (not rush) items go through our hub for sorting and distribution to our various routes a couple of times a day. Drivers both start and finish their routes at our hub so your routed deliveries are limited to each route's daily schedule. Pickups from addresses other than your own are also subject to each route's daily schedule. If you place an order to pick up an item to bring to your office and the driver has already passed that area, it cannot be picked up until the next route run.
We offer two route services a day, an a.m. and a p.m. pick-up. So you havetwo opportunities to get route deliveries completed daily. The below descriptions layout how each service type works.
You have two basic types of route service available:
- Regular Route Service. Items picked up on your a.m. run should typically be delivered before 3:00 p.m. that day to business destination. Items picked up on the p.m. route (apart from court filings and bank deposits) can be delivered as late as 11:00 a.m. the next morning but will be routed for same day delivery if possible.
- Today "Route Service Only". All items picked up using this service will be delivered before close of business the day of pick-up. This only applies to single destination deliveries only and exchanges picked up by the courier on the AM route stop. Multi-step deliveries and exchanges placed on your pm run ( get multiple signatures, etc.) will either be converted to RUSH service upon client authorization or they will follow the normal course of routing until completed which may mean that the completion of the order may take more than one day dependant upon how many stops we must make. Apart from court filings and Bank Deposits, you are allowed three of this service type on your PM run each day. The Fourth is charged a rush rate.
Any item that is a time critical delivery outside of our route schedule (apart from the regular court schedule) must be upgraded to a rush service so that we can be assured to meet your deadline.
All deposits and Court Filings are completed same day, no exceptions. Returns from courts and banks will be on a next morning basis.
Please note that the driver that picks up from your office typically will not be the same person that delivers your item so please be as clear and concise as possible in the instructions you give us.
Get the most.
Here are a few common order scenarios that do and don't work well with Route Service.
Q: It is 9 am. My route courier comes to my office at 10 am. I have a delivery going across town to another business and it needs to be there by 3pm. Which service type should I use? A: Regular Route Service. Items picked up for delivery on your AM run should be delivered no later than 3pm. Typical savings over using a rush = $7.82 + fuel
Q: It is 10:30 am and my courier has already been by the office and I won't see him/her again until this afternoon but I need something brought back to me by my afternoon route stop. Which service should I use? A: A Rush service. Since our drivers meet at 11:00 am back at our hub for the sort, the route driver that services that part of town has probably passed that area of town. The route driver that services that part of town would only be able to pick-up your item between 11:30 am and 3:00 pm at which time they would hand the return back to your route courier and attempt to return it between 3:30 and 5:00 if you chose the "TODAY" (Route Service Only) service type. So in order to meet your afternoon deadline we must send a different type of driver to meet your deadline.
Q: It is 9 am and my courier will arrive at 10 am. I have a check I want to go to another business and exchange for something and return to me. When can I expect this back? A: If you choose Regular Route Service - by 10am the next day. If you choose Today (Route Service Only) for no extra cost (See the Today description for limitations) you should get it back between 3 pm and 5 pm assuming everyone was ready for the exchange when we arrive.
Q: It is 1:30 pm and my courier doesn't arrive until 2:00 pm. I have an item that I want picked up and returned to me by 5:00 pm today. Which service type should I use? A: At this time of day it is still early in the afternoon route so you should definitely call our office and see if the route driver that services that part of town can fit your pickup in for return today. As long as it is only a pickup and it is ready for us at the time you call we don't need anything from your office to make the pick up, dispatch will let you know. If so then you can use the "Today" (Route Service Only) service type. If the driver has passed the address on his route already then you must upgrade to a rush.
